Oh, I see what you mean now. I used a brush on the apron and gloves, hoping to give it a little bit of texture is all. I wasn't going for picture-perfect realism, just to get the point across that it was made of leather. Same with the stone. I just wanted to show that it was granite, not just a solid-colored mass in front of her.

    Diggin' the picture, KD
But I think it would have been better with virtually no background.
Or it would be no different.
Either way, I like it, very nice work ^^

Hmm did you try Daz 3D? You can pose pretty much anything in 3D. Including humans :]

I really like this one. Very srange creature, but has a human-ish face, which only makes it creepier.

Awesome. Works very well without color and the creature design is interesting. Is it based on something?

Yes. It's part of my Grimm Concepts series. This is a Feline Kari. There are different kinds of Kari, but these are the most cat-like. They are related to the Elves in my novel.

Cool. It looks like a cross between a traditional western fantasy novel creature and a supernatural being from eastern mythology.

    Oh look, an update!

Been a while, I s'pose. Guess I'll upload a few of my recent creations.

Yeah yeah, keep your "Ew, ponies!" to yourselves, please. No one is forcing you to look at it if you don't like it. Constructive criticism for human facial structure, however, is needed. I hate how Victoria's face came out in the revised picture, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Some help from the older artists here would be very much appreciated.

Looks lovely. You've improved your shading a lot which is really evident in the first pony piece you've done.

As for Victoria's face I have some pointers:

The eyes are very slanted, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since I get you're going for a more stylish look - But don't let the fact that her makeup slants fool you into slanting her eyes, too.
Ears should generally be placed in the space between the nose and the ears - This leads me to the next set of critique, which is her extremely small jaw and mouth. By placing the ear further down you create space for a bigger jaw and thus a bigger mouth.
Aside from this I really think you should start to contrast your shading more - In all the work where you've used a smudged type of shading it's far too soft to suggest any real depth.

Okay, thanks so much KT. I had so many issues with that ear, it's not even funny. I see what you mean about the eyes, and I was too stubborn to actually rotate them because I liked how they looked at first. Now I can't stand they way they look with the rest of the face. Maybe I'll recreate this using cell shading instead, and see how that looks.

Loving the facial expressions of the ponies! Except for that Sasura one. The entire head looks wayyy too human-like.
You should really work on the ponies' front legs though, they look weird as hell :p

Those expressions, man! I dig 'em!

Alright, dragons! Now, we're talking! Um, not that I have any thing against ponies. They're cute too.

I love the green flames. Beautiful touch. Though I find the shape of the skull a bit off at some points. Don't exactly know why. The shape of the jaws are very well done, though. Also, I can't see any sign of neck. Does that mean this is a floating dragon skull spewing green flame? Just asking.

Yeah, it's just a floating dragon skull spewing green "ghost" flames, or just smoke. Didn't really put a whole lot of thought into it, I was just feeling down and started putting my thoughts onto paper. Er...tablet.

Looks good. Though if you're thinking of further refining it, I would suggest studying the way fire behaves when "thrown" to get a more realistic depiction. Just a suggestion.

Do some more hard shadows, with the fire being that close and with it seeming to be the only light source, there should be harder shadows on the areas opposite of the light. Also maybe let the light bleed into the head and neck, so like a powerful glow around the edges where the flames are. Other than the shading, I love the concept, pose, etc. Everything looks good to me, just work on the shading.

If your having problems with shading or colouring round objects, try with just a ball. Create a circle, pick a light source and practice shading it, also look up references. Once you can get that to look good, you'll have a better understanding of light and shadow
