Dale, you need to practice your singing before you write anything new. Because your signing is lifeless, boring and off key. The lyrics aren't all bad, although your lack of rhymes really hurt my brain, but more than anything they seem oddly matched to the music, and just sort of trail along without any real kind of rhythm or structure. The instrumental part is fine. It's not Stairway to Heaven, but not really all that bad. Your a better pianist than guitarist, so I would want to hear more songs on the piano. One thing to consider is what strings to strum for certain chords since some chords sound a little mismatched with the singing.

You need to work on your singing voice, and how to give it energy and make it interesting to listen to. Also, try singing in a scale you're better suited for. Like you told me, you're a baritone, so taking too high notes is just going to sound forced. As it stands now, it either sounds like you're singing too high or too low.

    Spoiler for Individual song reviews:
    All I ever wanted:

This song suffers from some serious problems in the rhythm. It's very hard to hear what you're singing, and it just kind of goes on forever. It doesn't take long before you get the sensation that you've heard the entire song and since you don't change the volume or pitch at all for any kind of chorus or bridges makes the song boring. Try to slow this song down and trim the lyrics a little. Make room for breaks and change it up a little because everything flows together into a dreary grey blaaaah.

    Going on an Adventure

The music in this song is actually pretty good. However, as soon as you start to singing it becomes obvious that you didn't think this song through and probably haven't recorded it to review it yourself. You're singing too quietly! Sing louder! Singing louder makes it easier to go up in pitch, which is exactly what you struggle with in this song. If you just kicked up the volume, and gave the song some energy, you might not have to lower your pitch for it to song good. Even though it's a calm song, you still need energy. Sing; don't whisper.

    Good Ole' Times

The music this time isn't all that bad, but the mix between acoustic and electric guitar is very awkward. The tone of the electrical guitar just doesn't match the sound of the rest of the song. It sounds weird; like the guitar is out of tune or there's a problem with the amp.

This time, you're actually singing with a little energy though, not just whispering in some semblance of melody, but you're still so restrained. Whenever you try to take a high note, you sort of bail from it, and it just comes off in this really weird note that sounds really flat and ugly. I know you can sing better than this, I've heard you sing better than this, so sing! Louder, stronger; with more energy and more joy. So far, it doesn't sound like you're having fun. If you're going to do something, do it properly.

I am Hero (Seriously? I am Hero? Oh well)

I have to say, I really enjoy the finger picking of this song, and even though it's simple; it gets the job done. However, the lyrics are horrible! There's no structure! It just sorts of goes on and then it hops into a really feeble chorus that's over so quickly I don't have time to make an impression. Need I remind you that the chorus is supposed to be the peak of the song, but I hardly even noticed the chorus in the song until I started looking for it. There's just not much to this song... It just goes by.

    Me and my smokes

Once again, the music is upbeat and pleasant but the singing has problems. This time, you're singing in a weird note, and in too high of a pitch. Your voice breaks constantly, and an album is supposed to be a clean version of the songs isn't it? Though, once again, there's no energy. Despite singing louder, you sounds so bored.

The chorus is fun though, not because of the duet of mismatched pitches, but because it's the first chorus that really did something new and fun with the melody. It's the only chorus - out of every song in the album - I would accept as a chorus, and while it's not really enough to impress, it does leave an impression.

    Nightmare's Lullaby

This one, I have to say; I love the music in this one. It has this Nightmare Before Christmas kind of feel to it. Unfortunately, I get the feeling you didn't know what to do with this one. Because the tones of the singing just kind of dies. There's no real controlled melody, and it's such a shame. I'd like you to redo this one and put more effort into the melody of the singing because the piano score is really cool.

    This Day and Age

My goodness me. Singing? Why, you're actually holding tones - Dale you rascal. Even though you take some prolonged tones you shouldn't, this song suffers mostly from one flaw; cramped and superfluous writing. The lyrics become redundant very fast and the melody sort of suffers from the amount of words you cram into each sentence. There's one more thing you need for this song, though, a stronger chorus. Sing up; the chorus is the highlight of the song! Give it some fire!

This Song Has No E String

This is no doubt the best song, because it sounds like you're having fun. The lyrics are so and so, your pitch is a bit low and you seem to favor somewhat whiny tones in the song but most of this is forgiven because it sounds like such a spur of the moment kind of thing, and your only really wrote it for fun, and that's the bloody point! Have fun!

In short, you need to figure out how to bring your voice out of that boring mumble you persist on while you speak. If you just get more energy into your signing, then some small errors in pitch and tones isn't going to be as noticeable.

Just had a geographic test today, i got 12, which is the highest grade you can get here in Denmark.

I thought it was a pretty easy test considering it's at an exams level.

    Critism Accepted.

The Guitar: I don't have a mixer to directly record guitar into the computer so i have to use the microphone to record both the electric and Acoustic. As for the electric, I'm not sure whats wrong with the tonality, it's had new strings put on. all tuned to the correct note. Yet it still sounds horrible. Acoustic guitar was re-stringed after "I an Hero" was recorded. The Same problem happened, not as bad as the electrics though.

The Singing: I Agree with Everything you have said. It is difficult to record and project myself in my room, especially in this neighbor hood. Only 1 song I've done was Professionally recorded in a studio with proper equipment and it turned out great, singing and all. I'm Trying to make a deal with the guy who owns the studio. Since I'm working on his Studio website, he could let me record in the studio. Which should hopefully solve most off these problems.

the Music Side: I like to make my songs easy to play and easy to pick up . I've only been playing guitar for just over a year now and i have been playing piano for approx 14 years both taught and self taught.

The Lyrics: Never Been a strong point of mine personally, i write what comes to mine. if it works it stays.

Further Comments: Only since late last year have I only started writing and recording my own music. I always thought to myself I could never write my own material cause i simply wasn't good at it. My mind suddenly changed when I recorded my first Composition "Worth the Wait". Since then it's kinda grown on me, plus it's helps me get my mind off things and gives me something to do other then rot inside the house.

I think I mentioned before that my Xbox has red ringed (again) and it's out of warranty, so it's either get a new one or go suck it.

However, a third option has presented itself, namely a company in Dublin who APPARENTLY will fix it for the (relatively) small fee of €100.

I'm skeptical about this though, seeing as they're a fairly unknown third party, and I'm sure I can get Microsoft to give me a shiny new Xbox with a HDMI port on it if I blame it on their shoddy machinery (again). Although I doubt it, so then I'm back to Messers shady and co.

And Conviction SHOULD be on it's way.

Anyway. Found out what the requirements are for my Multimedia course in Uni, and it's highly achievable.

Now to sit the JC, my next three years and the LC, and THEN I'll be in.

    Oh yeah.

Fl Studio 9 does everything and it's an unlimited free download. Ask Tobu it's what he uses for his music.

Also I've started learning the song Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden... it's epic.

My school's server crashed today in the middle of some research I was doing for an assignment.

Edit: I also found out that my school has Adobe Flash CS4, and all it's various accessories installed for public use. I couldn't do anything with it because of the server crash, but you can bet I'm going to test it out when the server is fixed.
