Default Power Problem With PlayStation 2

ok. my problem is w/ my prized and beloved PlayStation2.
2day i went to try and play sum video games.
the light on the power/reset button was red. i pressed that button and it would not turn on. the light on the button didnt turn green like it is suppose to. it is still red.
i checked the AC adapter, the power cords, everything, but nuthing seems to be wrong.

anybody got any way on how to fix it?
i tried Sony but i would have to pay $45 just for them to figure out what is wrong w/ it. i has no money for that

EDIT: i have the 7000-9000 version
which is better known as the small and thin and slim PS2

I've guessing over heating. What room do you have it in? Is it well ventilated?
Try placing it on a heat sink.

Google my dear, it does wonders in this digital era!

Basically will just keep things slightly more cooler if its because of over heating.

if whats wrong with it is what i think it is, well you didn't push one of the back wires in properly. I've had it a few times were I've put it in, and its just like, an inch out and won't turn on

Oh, i re-read her problem. I thought she meant the problem was when the PS2 was on, the TV wouldn't show the game. My bad

The best idea i can come up with would be dropping it in a tub of water.
i would say that it did wounders with my xbox 360 but those are screwed up even before you open the box.\

The slim doesn't have a built-in fan like the fat, so that might be it. I know you haven't used it in a week, but the fan is pretty much the only thing that keeps it going, and your PS2 is on the floor so that could also go towards the non-fan side-effects.

Why theirs nothing wrong with it?
The idea to fix is to dump it in a tub of water. You can find one in a bathroom most of the time.

It did wonders on my xbox 360.

and the "But those are screwed up before they leave the box"
Is say that basically you kill the Xbox that way and that Xboxes suck.

I have seen one light on fire after being taken out of a brand new box and being hooked up.

    So ya.

    Oh my God, I'm famous.

I actually had this problem a few years back. I tried the age old solution of turning it off and turning it back on again.

When that didn't work, I left it off for longer before turning it back on again.

    And then it worked.

Basically, I didn't touch it for a week, and when I poked it back to life a week later, it was fine. Hooray for Philosophy!

You might want to trade it in for a fat.

You can make more in the can for what you get for a PS2 these days.
