Now i was wondering...why isnt there a focus point on how the portal was created or how the team found the portal/got an entire base through to the "dead world"? Its like me going into a swimmin pool and appearing on the moon.

The portal itself will likely be discussed in future episodes during the backstories of some of the characters.
