I just downloaded the game and it seems like a really cool concept to explore new surroundings and have a reason to walk outside the house. Won't be long before people start running into things and ignoring safety hazards around them, though.

I'm pretty sure the ignorance of safety hazards and the tendency to run into things have started since the invention of smartphones.

I've been watching this game tear apart the fabric of society in the most hilarious ways.

Also I can't figure out how to find any-dang-thing in it. Not sure there even are any gyms or pokestops anywhere near me.

I wonder if it would work in the Castle-Dimension...

Imagine everyone on base running around with their smartphones searching for Pokemons while the fate of humanity hangs in balance.

All while General is looking on with violent disappointment.

Already happened. Kid got hit by car because he was chasing a pokemon.

Man, it even infected DQ. It's basically Ingress with a pokemon theme.
Rachel Constantine: I was especially interested in the section on Arroway's video unit. The one that recorded the static?
    Michael Kitz: Continue.
Rachel Constantine: The fact that it recorded static isn't what interests me. What interests me is that it recorded approximately eighteen hours of it.

The vast majority of my co-workers and the management at the store I work at all play; we managed to become a poké-stop due to our NASA-themed interior. It's frickin' everywhere.

I actually think they marked our local, gated graveyard as a gym. Let's hope that no one gets arrested for breaking and entering as a part of this.

It is quite literally Ingress with a resource swap. The pokecenter/gyms are Ingress portals. You can log into Ingress and request portals to get more pokecenters near you.

Someone is probably trespassing in their neighbors yard to get that sweet, sweet, charmander.

Alright, sorry for the double post, me, but I have to. So between making people looking even dumber than normal, causing major traffic accidents and now apparently flinging their stupid, oblivious bodies off cliff sides, I'm pretty sure Nintendo wanted to brainwash the population into suicidal lemmings to make the inevitable invasion go more smoothly when half the population is in hospitals.

    Fucking South Park called it.

I dunno, I can't really be mad at it when it also allows for goodness:

That said, your point about suicidal lemmings still stands. There are plenty of very much real Pokemon Go related injuries. I'm rather amused by how lemmings-esque the story of the two men who fell off the cliff is.

My bad, I was thinking of this story and just linked the first article on Google, thinking it was the same one. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, this one is very real.

This combines two of the things I hate the most, fun and outside. I will have no part in it.

    Dammit DC, that's damn cute.

Also, some of you seem to blame kids on not spending enough time being "outside", but whose fault is that? Because a 5 year old doesn't really have any say in the matter. Also, did you realize that that's what every generation has been saying about the following one since forever?

They never existed! Or at least, around where I live they didn't. Floridians aren't exactly blessed with decent temperatures; your summers are our winters~

Saw this on facebook! Seems like a really good idea, we need more of these around.

You do realise you're talking to a Swede, right? The only difference in terms of weather between Florida and Sweden is that while our summers can likewise range into the 30 degree C span, same as yours, our winters are remarkably colder, at 30 degrees below. I spent my childhood building iglos and snow caves, and summer days in the woods.

Seems a bit ambitious, complaining about the weather to a Scandinavian.

The radio stations here are making a big deal of Pokemon Go, even when as they hype about it, Pokemon Go has not been released here yet.

This kind of hype bugs me. People tend to get severely disappointed when something is hyped so much and the most likely outcome is that the expectations will not be met (I heard they're unlikely to be released here anyway, which probably means my uni will be filled with salty tears).

I don't really care for the game, I do actually think it's a neat concept and I know it helped a lot of people to socialise and I approve of that, but - am I really that annoying, grumpy old fuck for being tired of seeing it everywhere? I know it's a huge trend and hype, but I'm kind of sick of seeing it everywhere on the internet and it's literally impossible to avoid it. I am not hating on it because it's popular, I am not hating on it at all, just fed up with it a bit. I mean, it's a bit crazy to see a video of people stopping their cars in the street and running out to catch a super rare pokemon that spawned nearby. And it's not like 10 people or so, it's maybe 60 or close to 100. Just seems a bit insane to me.
