    Default Double-Framed Website Design

I wanted to share and get critique on the design I've been working on for a new invite-only general arts site I'm making. Forgive me if this is inappropriate or in the wrong section. I'm not trying to advertise, the site isn't even open to the public. Let me know what you think, I'd like to hear some feedback about the design and anything you like or don't like.

It's not entirely finished, right now I'm focusing on designing the forums from scratch. There's no front page or showcase as of yet.

Most of this is based on phpBB, but I developed a significant amount of what you see myself, integrating it all with the phpBB system. The profile has a cover image like facebook or Google+ that you can customize. When you mouse over you can drag the cover image up and down to your taste, and you can choose a new cover image or upload your own.

The button of on-off on the site bothers me. It's not a radio switch, it's supposed to be a tick, so why make it slide like that?

You're insane, the sliding animation is pretty fucking rad!

It's the exact same as a checkbox, it's just a different, arguably more stylish way of displaying it. A check box has two states: checked and unchecked. On and off. A radio button would be used if there were 2 or more labelled options that you needed to choose from.

When I design I like to keep a uniform style with recurring elements, and the style I am going for with this site is more about eye candy. I felt it was more appropriate to go with an iOS-styled approach rather than what every other site uses. It's a bit flashier, but illustrates the same thing as a normal checkbox, and it matches the style of other UI elements.

I'd make the small text in the drop down user panel the same color as the text in the notifications.

That's all I have to say, really. I love the theme of the site and can't tell you what you could improve on.
I could list the things I liked, but why bother. It'd be all but the text from the dropdown menu

This design looks really clean, elegant and stylish. I like that, good going. Probably not worth mentioning but the sliding switch is neat, totally keep that.

Jeff I didn't know you come here!

Anyways, it's sexy as hell. You're a fucking genius. I love sliding the switch and clicking the login button. I haven't had this much fun making wrong log-in info. The whole classy theme really looks amazing.

Thanks for the feedback, good to know I'm on the right track. I think it would also be worth mentioning that there are probably a total of I think 6 images used in that entire design. The box gradients, shadows, icons, and text effects are all CSS3 and web-font based.

This has it's upsides, such as faster and easier development and design time, but it also means older browsers are not supported at all. If you use IE and aren't using IE10, this message pops up:
