Now, if they made a bill that said, like, "Anyone who illegally downloads files gets sent to death camps," then restarting the government would be a good idea.
What? No everything they do implys the need for my demand. Forget ACTA, that's just one mistake in a 300 page list of stupidity.

Yesterday, there was a rather big anti ACTA protest in Slovenia. Over thousand participants joined, with legit reasons for protesting and they knew what they were protesting against.
But of course, there was a problem:

    Those idiots.

The thing is, one of my friends went there. He told me about it a day before and also mentioned he "bought an Anonymous mask".
    Dear fucking god.
I asked him why and he answered: "It'd be cool to have one, they are nice."
    I was fucking pissed.
People who wore those masks were there just because it seemed cool to be on that protest and wear this fucking mask and feel like a total badass, when in reality, they are just a bunch of basement dwellers, who were protesting because "WE WON'T BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD PIRATED MATERIAL ANYMORE!" Proven, I know many who went there just because of that. They didn't really know the whole story about ACTA.
Some of them though they are Anons and are fucking cool, while some of them had masks just for the hell of it and this fact is pissing me off. They don't even know that this isn't "Anonymous" mask, as they call it. Maybe they should watch "V For Vendetta". No wait, they shouldn't, movie sucked.
My point is that those people should educate themselves first before acting and stop trying too hard to be cool. Lots of people from my school think of themselves as Anons just because that's cool these days and they protest against ACTA because that's cool too, without knowing ANYTHING.

Congrats to Anons, they've managed to become mainstream.

I find it ironic that Guy fawkes has become a symbol of anarchic rebellion against a repressive government, as he himself wanted a Catholic theocracy. Now the Gunpowder Plot's main goal was to set up Elizabeth as simply a "Catholic Friendly" ruler after they got done blowing up her dad and all his government buddies, but it most likely wouldn't have stopped there.

    And know you know...

Love will find its way, over time and space, love will find its way.

I agree with you that people should know what they're protesting. The thing is, ACTA covers more than just pirated material.

Knowing a lot of people already care about this, I choose to sit it out. Got too many problems already. But the V for Vendetta sucked comment that Shinoi spouted fired me up. Come at me, bro.

Well movie wasn't really bad, but compared to comic, it wasn't really good in my opinion. Maybe I just didn't like it how it differed from original.
    Yeah, I'm just like that.

Yeah Shino, here is the same. Many of my friends haven't heard about SOPA, PIPA and ACTA until Anon crashed our government's site or when they heard that the next on the list is their precious facebook *sigh*
As for Vendeta movie I'm standing in the line with Paper. (Never had the chance to read the comic but I had watched the cartoon when I was little.)

Statement A: People should be more aware and knowledgeable about current events and the world around them.

Statement B: Anon making people aware is horrible.

I perfer they use the Guy Fawks mask then people using the image of El Che who was nothing but a murderer for the symbol of 'rebellion'. Sure he had a attractive philosophy but how he got it done was just horrible.

The mask as dumb as you may think gives a sense of empowerment for them however little it may be. Just 10 years ago it was 'uncool' to protest. Not as many highschoolers were even protesting period. So I'm glad they got out of their dens and did 'something' at least.

Anon are critters that hang out at 4chan. Anyone can be an Anonymous. You don't even have to be a hacker. It's a leaderless group that has spreed it's web everywhere. But there's a price, if you announce you are one of them and your city doesn't tolerate them you can get in trouble. If local authorities find out your one of them through an internet trail, and some local idiot decided to burn a building in the name of Anons everywhere, guess what you will be interogated even if you had no play in it whatsoever.

Not to mention that once you announce your an Anon, they like to crack down your location and send 'mission' duties in your home mail address. (Happened to a friend of mine.) Of course any hacker can do this but still kinda creepy.

On the positive side, Anons, at least the legit founding ones, have their reasons to protest. Hell it's their freedom to do so, let them do as they wish as long no one gets hurt. Their problem however is the fact that they have no sense of direction or structure as to WHO is in it or who is the leader. They now seemed to be more worried about facebook/internet issues than world issues. It's just one big random protesting virus. Reminds me a little of Occupy; it seemed to have worked at first but now it has no sense of direction.

So I guess I agree with you and disagree with you at the same time.

PS: Wha!? That movie was awesome! I loved V for Vendetta, he's a sexy choatic rebel.

All he ever got done was a good revolution. In all honesty, Ché is still more of a 'revolutionist' then Guy Fawkes. However Ché was particularly susceptible to being used and in the end it's what got him killed.

Good revolution? He arrested people for owning a saxophone because it 'represented imperialism' which is really dumb. If people didn't follow his revolution he would send them to the firing squad. He was like a military extremist version of robin hood. Join the merry men or die.
    maybe?
