Also, good point, it is clear that this is a story which is meant to be extremely true-to-life and not exaggerate or overplay our characters in any way.

That's an incredibly unfair and short sighted comment. It's on the same level as me criticizing our conversations with "you didn't quote the bible enough," or something equally preposterous. He doesn't want this to be another pun fest, and how is that a bad thing? Now, go ahead, be more tactless and offensive; it's a rather amusing side of you and I can't wait to see how you continue to overshadow your own comments by being a complete dick. How does it feel to be me?

He's portraying himself, right? Albeit an exaggerated version of himself but even a hyperbolic Will wouldn't make puns every sentence.

I'm not criticizing Will's conversations with me IRL, Vic. I am criticizing Will's character, in the story, who has not yet made me laugh out loud, when IRL he would have several times by now. And since this seems intended to be a whimsical story in which our character traits are exaggerated for comic effect, I am pretty sure that that's an egregious oversight. I assure you, if a Warren character appears and is as unchristian as Will's character has thus far been unfunny, I will feel equally slighted.

Where did I ask for a pun every sentence? Man, I don't even insist they be puns specifically, if it is really that big of a deal. Will isn't a one-trick pony, he is witty in many respects. The point is that thus far, it hasn't really felt like Will to me, or even a caricature of Will. Detective Fox feels like a poser pretending to be Will. I don't know what's up, Will has written himself and made me laugh plenty of times in the past, pretty much every time he has done it really. But the gags Detective Fox pulled here felt predictable and obvious and kind of uninspired. The failed dynamic entrance was a little funny but none of the dialogue worked, it felt like the kind of thing that I would come up with while half-asleep, and I know I'm not as funny as Will.

Apologies if I have been tactless, but I am pretty sure that in the past I have gone on considerably harsher tirades and had nothing but support from you guys; of course, that was always against less well-respected members. But the premise feels a little too close to Vic's old DQ Novel, the execution so far has been just a few cuts above mediocre, in my experience Will has been capable of doing better than this, and yet until my post it had gotten unanimous adulation from everybody. Maybe I'm crazy, I dunno. But if I wrote something way below my usual standards I would want you guys to tell me.

I don't want to pigeonhole Will as just the funny guy either, he has also written some serious stuff that has been cool, I'm just pretty sure from the tone of this piece so far that it is meant to be a wacky, though perhaps also dark, comedy, and I haven't found any of it comical yet.
