Default [Upcoming] DOTA Style Flash Game (Name Pending)

Hey there all. Earlier, our Flash programming teacher had given us a homework to make a small game out of Flash. Most of my classmates made extremely simple clicking games, but partly due to my recent liking of a Warcraft 3 mod similar to DOTA called Ambition Of Nobunaga, I decided to make a small game which involved basic "Tower pushing" mechanics.

Shortly afterwards, the teacher announced that there was to be an end-of-semester project in which you could do anything you wanted with Flash programming as long as it was substantial. I decided to take my little game to the next level, and add minions, as well as PvP play, and single player play against the AI.

For people unfamiliar with DOTA, the goal of my game is to destroy the enemy Tower, which is a strong building which will fire upon opposing units. Both sides control a Champion which is a powerful character, and the player controlled one. Minions, which are small soldiers, will also be dispensed from both sides every once in a while to fight. Alone they do not help much, but when tactically timed, Champions can employ them to turn the tide in battle.

As somewhat of a taster to what might come, here's the homework I handed in:

Here's a problem I had with this though. Truploader seemed to interpret the units of X, and Y differently from my computer's Flash player. I had to tweak the numbers specifically for Truploader to prevent it from ruining the gameplay. Anyone know how to fix this?

As for the standard I have set myself to achieve is briefly illustrated in the picture below.

As of now I am writing the code for minions. Maybe after I finish the project, at least up to the standard above (Which is what I look to handing in for my end-of-term project), I may add in other features such as leveling systems. If anyone has ideas for these feel free to speak.

Right now if anyone has any suggestions for tweaks, suggestions, or innovations I can apply to the game, I'd be happy to hear them. Also, as you can see, I'm in need of art direction. If anyone has designs for the game (Champions, minions etc), you can submit them to me, and I'll decide whether or not to use them. Animated movements are also appreciated. Unfortunately, all I can do for you is put your name in the credits at this point.

So that's that for now. If anyone has feedback of any kind feel free to tell me

    Update time!!

Now I've just finished the game up to standards that I'd hand in the game to the school, so as of now it's free running for me.

Basically the news is that I've gotten one of my close friends to help out with the art, so as you can see in the screenshot below, everything is much prettier than plain circles. Check it out below:

However, before I release the game to DQ for testing, I still have to fix the balance issue in the game, where the opposing tower is a tad too powerful. I don't want to make it any weaker though, as that'd make it too easy to push down "early game".

So the way I've decided to go around this is to add an upgrade system, where both sides are able to upgrade the statstics of your own hero, or minions as you gat money to buy them, which is earned through killing opposing minions, and champion. I'm still considering whether, or not to add armors into the game, so feel free to give feed back about that too.

Of course the layout of the game will be changed to accomodate the upgrades system, so the above is not final. Something else I'm considering adding is a "Quick Game" mode, for players who don't want to play out a long, macro game. In this mode, both sides will spawn with full upgrades from the start.

Once I'm finished with a rough working version of the upgrades system, I'll post the game I have so far so DQ can give me sugestions on it.

As for now, anyone have suggestions, or feedback for me? As always, all sorts of feedback, and criticism is welcome!

EDIT: Got ninja'd by Paperback for this left-out detail, but...the finished game will be translated of course.

How about English. Also, those are some very awkward rock monsters.
