Default Sothink SWF to AVI converter: No file created!

Hey guys, I've been working on CI Pt C, but the one thing that is halting everything is a swf-avi converter I'm using (name in title).

I've fully registered it, I've downloaded DivX codec, that's also fully registered. Then when I get a swf file into the converter to capture and save as an avi, it just suddenly says, no file created!

I really have no idea what the heck is going on!

    Can someone please help me?

If not, can someone suggest an alternate swf-avi converter, preferably one that is free.

I've tried a few of these and to be honest, none will do their job good. Often movieclips that has their own timeline will get out of sync and the audio is terrible.

You're better off with simply using a screen recorder and record your playback of the swf. But that requires your swf to run smoothly on your computer, so optimize laggy scenes. Make sure you crop out the area in some video editing software to fit exactly one of the commonly used proportions such as 1280x720 etc.

Either this, or you can choose to export from your fla to a png sequence. You then take this sequence of images into a video editing program (vegas is free, haven't ever used it though) and merge with an external audio file (read below). This will however not take your movieclips into account either, but it's often fixable by simply using graphics symbol instead that share the main movies timeline. This option is the best, and it's what I used for many scenes in the video conversion of Ride Like The Wind. You will get crisp graphics and smooth playback. You just need to work around the movieclips issue.

The audio can be exported in mp3/wav alone directly from the fla under publish settings. It is then merged with your video content in the video editing software.

    Ah ok.

The PNG export idea sounds pretty good. So just to be clear, all I have to do, is line up all the images exported into my movie editor (I use Videopad) and then sync it with whatever audio I may have had (if so, it shouldn't be a problem, I usually work with sound separately from Flash, syncing issue always occur in relation to FPS rate >D )

Only thing I'm a little worried is, if the above is correct, I may have to also manage every single image to run at the correct time for each (ie Videopad imports any image, by default, to be 1 second long, which is way too long for each frame/image of the animation [although now that I think about it, I could just select all of the images and speed them all up at the same setting *facepalm*])

PS: I had already tried to see if FRAPS 3.4.2 would work with screen recording, only works in games >.< .
PPS: Also went through, already, a lot of other swf to avi converters, but they all either were cruddy in recording quality or ---
PPPS: This is not going to become another PS series is it?
PPPPS: Errr, yes it is >D .

If you have successfully exported a png sequence they will be named as moviename0000.png, moviename0001.png etc (or something along those lines). In your video editing software you need to make sure the program knows you're importing a sequence of images. I used Premiere pro for it, and there's a checkbox to tick if you want to import a sequence, I'm sure there's something similar in your program. But yes, this is what you need to do.

Also, it's even better if you sync your audio in the video editing software like you already do to avoid issues.

I'm not sure I fully understand your worries in your second paragraph. To clearify - You will need to set the fps of the video to match the fps you have in Flash. In my case, I was already animating in 30 fps which is one of the standard frame rates available.

Don't worry about my second paragraph, you pretty much solved it when you mentioned importing the images as a sequence.

    Thanks for the help Oscar.

    PS: It's clarify not clearify
