Default Fragger's Minecraft Server World Thread.

Hey, everyone. To make it easier for the participants of DQ and for myself(OK, mostly for myself) to discuss and help organize the server, I've decided to start a thread about it.

First, let me tell you about a grand plan I've laid out for the server, heck, it's not carefully thought out as you might think and is usually made up as I go, but hey, at least it's a plan. It comes with 3 phases and 2 in-between phases, it's supposed to somehow make the server better and in a way, unique.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

    Phase 1
The server would involve us setting up our large communities, building our structures and generally molding the world to fit lore.

    -In Between Phase 1-2
Advertisement of the server(such as Yogiverse) and hopefully some fundraising to accommodate more dudes.

    Phase 2
The installation of RPG Professions(no rogues or rangers here, buddy) and iConomy. If it doesn't work out well, we'd implement more changes to the plugin. I don't want to abort this part at all, we'd might as well change and adapt to it. More about the Jobs later.

    -In Between Phase 2-3
Beta of the RPG Professions program being implemented. Focus will be on its development. If a lot of people have joined, then maybe I'll add more jobs to the list.

    Phase 3
Once the community and multiple factions are built and at least 3 of them are considered stable, we would declare ENLIGHTENMENT and roleplay right away after this.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

    -- JOBS AND PROFESSIONS --

Now some of you might be asking about these RPG "Jobs I'm talking about, note - THEY ARE JOBS and NOT CLASSES. There'll be no wizard, thief or barbarian right here, if you want to roleplay as a warrior or a sly son of a bitch then be my guest; nobody can stop you from fighting or acting out your character's personality anyway.

I've always encountered this problem with it being an RP-based server that EVERYONE there can do ANYTHING and that means anyone can be tree-chopping, diamond-mining, INDEPENDENT SUPERMAN.

Not just that, it also means our barter-based economy would invariably fail or remain stagnant because anybody could get anything if they wanted to.

Now, I've decided to think out my own instead and hopefully find some help from Bukkit. Hopefully, it won't be hard for you guys since this is basically "restricting" players of normal Minecraft functions unless they're of a certain profession which makes them efficient at it.

    Priest:
The only profession that can enchant items and maybe make potions and what not. Basically, a fucking wizard class, but I want to build monasteries instead of flying towers.

    Blacksmith:
Ability to forge tools above stone and making certain blocks like ore blocks, all other jobs restricted to making wood and stone tools, a necessity in communities.

Farmer: The only profession who ain't restricted to breeding animals. Needs more stuff to do, maybe only one able to hold "seeds" & "plant"(specifically wheat, pumpkins and melons), till soil and grow mushrooms

Lumberjack: Debatable. Probably cut down one log and all the other connected logs get chopped? Makes it easier for a guy. Maybe reduce the amount of planks normal people get to "2"?

Engineer: Redstone expert, only one allowed to place redstone and craft redstone-based items but everyone can hold redstone stuff. Possibly a boring profession unless the dude is a redstone-adept.

Magistrate: Only given to one member of the community(usually the leader) if they've grown large enough. They can collect taxes from people(minimum of 16, maximum of 256 per head), imprison players function(or free prisoners), prescribe jobs to newcomers or those who wish to change profession and the only one who can craft maps.

Any suggestion and or comment to the jobs is valued, especially those who have experience in a class-based bukkit plugins and servers.

    ------------------------
I suggest some jobs I think might be missing if we have those you listed:

Miners: The life blood of any town that plans to build itself with something better then wood, or plans to have more then 1 level to their town, they are the only ones able to mine bellow level 14. Anything they find they will give to merchants who will pay them a annual rate.

Merchants: Traders who travel from town to town selling the goods they buy and sell from others, while Blacksmiths and so on also sell, they can not collect as much verity and trade with other towns who may not have access to the materials say a town in the desert would have over a town in a river side port. They might work as middle men between Blacksmiths and Priest as well.

Military/Guard: A job that would work as a secondary, in cases of war, defense, or criminal behavior, these members are alerted and pulled out of their main job to fight, of course full time members of the Military/Guard would have better weapons and armor that is given as they become higher ranked in their job. Going part time means you would get more money though so you would be able to buy better armor just as likely.

Ok, from now on you better make factions just like Draunia's where there's at least 5 people, enough to fill out those jobs

The thing about the jobs is they promote unity and dependence on each other. I've seen people practically a nationstate of their own However, I want to be clear, we won't implement it until we're sure they are stable communities built up. And please give me reasons why it shouldn't be implemented, rather... Talk to me about it to be clear on the idea.

I'd like you to know that those jobs have been thought about and we consider that mining should be left available to anyone. Merchants have been talked out between me and the others who are not of this forum and we conclude that it's just a middleman job and it just makes it more complicated than for what it already is.

The military guard guy? Oh yeah, you could just roleplay as one instead. We could use iConomy to "/pay Zolen $100" for favor or something.

I just offered the idea and wrote one because, yes, I have no proof that anyone would join. Is it possible for me to find some people then this mountain city be set up. Or does it not matter if I actually have any numbers yet?

If you end up using iConomy or something, that would be awesome to encourage a economy, and the trading of goods. Otherwise I was just offering what I saw that seemed like they might have been thought up already that I saw as possibility's (I was going to say builder to, but yeah, same reason you said no to miner). Otherwise I am fine with the rp thing, this is a rp server, its pointless if everyone is able to do everything. I was confused at the lack of any actual Rp going on in it.

But that's stupid, especially in the case of a certain person being away for a lengthy amount of time could halt alot of processes. I just want to build a city and play Minecraft not continuously chop wood over and over again.

I'll probably be independent, with a huge fortress. Paperback, you should consider putting in the VoxelSniper plugin for the beggining stages, its an easy way (once you learn how to use the commands) to make awesome landforms, and edit land to your liking in game.

Yes, VoxelSniper is a good world editor if you want to make things on a grand scale but don't want to go through the slow process of editors like MCEdit. (and its in game so it can be a little fun to play with)

    BREAKING SERVER NEWS!

After less than a day of the server being re-activated, two bandits raided the abnormal floating city and raided the building and claimed the land for their own later realizing that this floating city was an import of the Civilization from the old world during the Brethil war. The bandits made haste barricading the doors and windows in an effort to make a stand as Lord Alonysius Kaiser III (Leader of The Holy Knights of the Order of the Ender Dragon) recently announced that he would be releasing a new world order.

The Bandits that have named themselves Draunia05 (Leader of the Settlers) and Bedrock Miner Ivyn (Leader of The Miners) saying "We here are making a stand, A new world where we can all live as one and play Minecraft!" Said by Draunia05.

"No Laws, only freedom!" Declared Ivyn as both men stood upon the house of Lord Kaiser raising their swords.

In an act of seriousness they set alight the flag of the old civilization. Could we be seeing a new chain of events? Another war? Or will Kaiser finally declare peace and Freedom for all.

Fuck... Sorry, guys. I have to make it a ruin. You can stay there for now until I'm finished in making it look ancient enough, but after I'm done you gotta move out.

Reading is fun, reading also clarifies a lot of things. Maybe it's time for you to read. I'll only install it once the communities that are already set are ready for it.

I know where you people are coming from, let me clarify this ONE MORE TIME BEFORE ANY OF YOU COME TO CONCLUSIONS: I WILL ONLY INSTALL IT ONCE WE'RE CONSIDERED "READY".

What is ready? Ready is when we have done a lot of building; I'll be lenient in handling creative mode to everyone. Fuck you for disregarding my generosity. Ready is also when we have sufficient numbers in population, able to fill those job requirements of the desired community. Ready is also when we've gained at least 3 stable and exceptional factions. For fuck's sake, guys, it's like you're jumping on the politician again just because... Just fucking because.

Yeah, you can still do functions for now, but when we've done all this and that how'd we be able to roleplay if ANYONE CAN DO ANYTHING? You'd all be practically GODS if you're really good in survival. That's a good thing Draunia did right there, taking initiative, however he should know that I plan to demolish a good part of Civilization cause you know, ruins and stuff like that.

SHIT. Fuck, I should've used that instead, but hey I needed to upload some stuff.

    ---EDIT---
World is now re-uploaded with a better copypaste.

And he enabled creative why? Also, you can copy/paste things without making a new fucking map every time. Hell, it can be done while the server is running! Even so, he could copy/paste everyone elses crap as well if he had to make a new map identical to the last(both seed and building positioning)

He said "I am going to re-download this, your welcome to destroy everything."
Me "Okay give me 64 tnt and a flent & steel"
Him: *Enables creative for me* "How about that?" *logs out*

This conversation took place while you were on.

I am not taking a side I am just saying he did tell and leave hints what he was planning.

And you realize that conversation can apply to just re-pasting the town fragger placed on the map, right? Last time I checked, people don't mean "Start over" when they say Re-download.

If the message itself wasn't clear enough to you, then I apologize. Maybe it's my fault, I can't depend on people to understand anything I say all the time. Many a group have stopped co-operating simply because of misunderstandings - so I'm taking this moment now to tackle your complaints.

Your two days of work was accompanied by nothing but creative, by the way, so the lost isn't that much. I do believe however that it's a good thing to do since now maybe now you know what you want to build, even you, Mattbot.

Also, here's a clear and concise warning, please build something SWAMP-RELATED and not a fucking space dome like the last time you've done.

Yes, that's even better, but that wouldn't fix me being stuck in an empty dimension. It's not so fun, plus I can't get TPed out and back to the overworld.

Listen, Draunia, don't take this as an offense, take this as an opportunity to address some bad mojo, not just between us, but between you and all the guys who you argue with.

When you said, "Now you make me sound like an asshole", this is what I meant about how you write. If you got something to say, say it in a nice way. If you got some swear words, don't direct it at people unless they know it's just joking around... Because, dude... You're flat-out offensive. I've tolerated your anger TOO MUCH and talked to you in calmer standards than the usual internet response.

You're probably mad because you didn't get the hint and the Message of the Day, but just like what your friend Hixin said, "What's done is done", at least she knows when to drop it.
