Default Avatar The Legend Of Korra

Avatar...for me, its the best series I ever saw. And its back. But different characters.

Here is some information about Avatar The Legend Of Korra (or The Last Airbender The Legend Of Korra)
    http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/The_Las...egend_of_Korra

    And here is the trailer

    What do you guys think?

If it gives more insight on the original story, then it's already a reason to watch it. It looks cool though.

It looks good, but I just don't think it'll be a patch on the origion-well maybe a patch but not as good. That's a personal issue with me though, I just don't like the blend of modern themes with fantasy. They might do a good job of it and I'm sure the show'll be good but, I'm still a bit irked.

I like the idea but, when it comes to movies and games, I never have been a fan of time boost, not so much because of the story being bad, but I guess I get attached to the original main character, and the change makes me slow to join into watching/playing the new one. Then again I have slowly lost a reason to watch TV anymore, so this show might give me a good enough reason to again.

Since when has fantasy ever excluded itself from technology? Just because Tolkien did a medieval sort of theme with his doesn't mean that's what fantasy is. I for one am dying to see how technology would advance in a universe where people and bending can substitute for fuel and mechanism. The North Pole was like this in the original series, and the Fire Nation did some cool things with combustion and air travel. The technology would be completely different from our world because bending is such a versatile part of the story, and its setting.

Yeah, this is gonna be awesome. It's what the Avatar series needs after that disaster of a movie.

True it had a few Deus ex machina's but it was still a good movie.

I can't begin to explain how wrong you are. I'm sorry, but that movie was horrible. No one acted like their characters from the show, the fight choreography was horrible, and the movie tried to condense every single story from Season 1 into a single movie when they should've just used the non-filler episodes. Also, they left out crucial details from the plot that make it so that the story makes no sense at all. That movie was a huge disappointment to virtually everyone who watched it.

Not to mention the fighting in the movie didn't follow the fact that all the benders' moves were derived from martial arts like Tai-chi

No, it did, it's just that the choreography was fucking shit. In the show it's a little ridiculous but for the most part the motions bending required made sense. Raise your arm and usually that means that whatever you're bending goes up. In the movie, every move required a fucking dance routine, which is completely missing the point and stupid looking.

Hm, watching it once then never again, might have made it seem like it was nicer to me. Or maybe not :/ meh.

Are we talking about the animated movie ending to the avatar or that gods awful live action that was made?

Oh, now I understand. We were talking about the god-awful live action one. The finale to the show itself was really good.

Yes, yes, yes-I loved the finale. It was just epic through and through and I've always loved and remembered that scene where
    Spoiler for .:
Aang's in the Avatar state towards the end of the episode with all of the elements circling around him, chasing the Fire Lord through all the rock formations

I always found Zuko's final battle to be the superior one, but hey - that's just me.

Actually, Vic, I agree with you. Aang vs. Ozai was kinda boring. However, Zuko and Katara vs. Azula was rereally cool and interesting. It showed the end of Azula's character arc- from a bratty princess to a queen who'se power drove her insane. Easily one of the darkest portrayals of power going to someone's head in a kid's show.

Yeah your right its funny though the whole story was suppost to be about aang fighting the fire lord and it was gonna be like some epic battle between the two. But Zuko and Katara vs. Azula was like well the real epic battle.

I think it more went that way because Aang Vs Fire Lord was more a lot of violent smashing into each-other, till Aangs avatar mode started up, then it was just a flashy ending.
Zuko and Katara Vr Azula felt like it had a bit more strategy, and exciting in it's movements in comparison, it actually felt a little bit more like a fight.

Or at least to me and my fuzzy memory of the fight. Reading this thread makes me want to watch the series over again.

I've only really watched the first season the whole way through. I've only seen bits and pieces of the rest of the series.

Yo, fuck you guys who feel any doubt for this show just because it advanced technologically. The Fire Nation in the past depended more on their military technology than their bending powers back then, and you forgave them for it. Sides, I'd actually think that facing against people who have their elements surrounding them would be somewhat disadvantageous which is a good reason to make the Fire Nation the most industrialized(being flooded by water and thrown a boulder at is not fun).

I also think that's a great idea so we can see so much more of an interesting world where it evolves just as the characters over time mature. The timing is great too since I've taken a bit of an interest in the Steampunk subculture. But hey, it might be more Oriental Steampunk compared to the English Victorian but we don't see much Oriental.

In addition, I actually felt pity for Azula who had a real, emotional history, and I think it was a good idea to somewhat form sympathy for her and overlook her first impression which was bitchy... Bitch should'a stayed in da' kitchen.

Such as Jet's death...which Nick felt uncomfortable showing to the public. And also Zuko reuniting with his mother....which I really don't understand why that was left out.
