    Default Dead Space 2

    Click Picture for Official Site.

I decided to remake this thread, seeing as the last one was, no offense, less sophisticated and informative than I would have liked. That and the fact we've entered "stage three" at Dead Space 2's official site.

So...Dead Space 2, set for release on January 25, 2011, on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows . It's still being made by the same company that made the first Dead Space, Visceral Games (formerly EA Redwood Shores), who are also the brains behind Dante's Inferno. Unfortunately for them, Dante didn't really turn out to be that great at all. I can only hope that Dead Space 2 will not turn out this way as well.

In this game, you will still be controlling the previous game's protagonist, Isaac Clarke. The game takes place three years after the events of the first game, in which the setting will be The Sprawl, a civilian space station from the remains of Saturn's moon Titan, in which a Necromorph outbreak will also begin. (It has not yet been explained how.) Players will thus be able to experience the infestation unfold from more of start as opposed to the first game. The Church of Unitology and the government will continue to have a large place in the storyline.

Some also speculate, that Nathan McNeil, Gabe Weller, and Lexine Murdoch, the heroes of Dead Space: Extraction (We all know what happened with that fourth one ), will also play some sort of role, as they were headed to the Sprawl at the end of Extraction.

There will be many new features to the game, with the main marketing item/gimmick to be a sleek new RIG will wear:

Still if it isn't your cup of tea, the devloper's have also stated that you may use the classic Mining RIG if you like, and it will not be a disadvantage. Among other new features, as opposed to the silent hero he was in Dead Space 1, Issac will speak in the sequel, as well as be able to display a greater range of emotion. He will also be showing his face much more often. There's even a death scene in which the Necromorph pulls of Issac's helmet before killing him.

The Zero Gravity feature has been tweaked, allowing the player to control the direction of their drifting through space and to fire their weapon at the same time:

Also, there will be an online multiplayer mode, although details of this have not yet been revealed by the developers.

Strategic dismemberment will contimue to be a combat tactic. And speaking of which there will also be several new Necromorphs, including "The Pack", reanimated children which attempt to overwhelm their prey with great numbers, "The Puker" which vomits caustic fluids towards its prey, as well as new Slasher varients. You can check them all out at the Dead Space Wiki.

Like the previous game, there will be several tie-in media to promte Dead Space 2, including a new graphic novel called Dead Space: Retribution, which will be released December 7th this year. Also there will be a game for PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade called Dead Space Ignition, which unlike the other Dead Space games is, according to developers, acting more as an interactive 'text-based adventure' game.

Now comes the part everyone's been waiting for: videos =D

So with my love of Dead Space, put together with seeing all this, I just have one thing to say:

This game must not fail! You hear me!? I will not allow it!!

Yeah so, basically let's have some feedback guys

Dead space really does look friggin awesome. Me and my sis' really want it, but we've both agreed to finish off the pile of games we currently have.
Hey Kreek, you know a lot about the franchise though so I should probably ask you on this. I remember the first game coming out, and I know this game came out but 'Extraction?' I don't know that one. Is it a prequel to the first one or something?

Dead Space: Extraction is a prequel game to Dead Space released only for Wii (I played it with the Dolphin Emulator :3 ). It takes place just as the Necromorph infestation begins after the finding of the Marker. You mainly follow the paths of a four-people group of survivors escaping the colony to the Ishimura (They succeed, but it dosn't do them much good), consisting of Nathan McNeil, Lexine Murdoch, Gabe Weller, and Warren Eckhart, with Nathan and Gabe mostly being the player characters.

The game is, unlike Dead Space, a first person rail shooter, meaning the camera usually moves on its own, and you advance after shooting down all the enemies. Most aspects such as strategic disemberment mainly remain in the gameplay. Also in the early chapters, seeing as there are still many people on the colony, you get to fight people who have been driven insane by the Red Marker, but...

    Spoiler for Dead Space:Extraction:
...there may not be as much as certain people were to have believed.

So, should I play Dead space 1, or extraction first? Assumably because extractions a prequel, it will have dialouge in it, which I won't understand because what they'll be talking about will have been explained in Dead Space 1, or one of those scenarios.

Yeah you're supposed to play Dead Space 1 first. That's how prequels work actually.

Also, Extraction is full of prequel fetishes, such as seeing the crew putting up a barricade, as well as recognizable locations that you see in Dead Space 1.

I will do so then! And I seriously hope this is one of those games I actually do buy, rather than to just be so occupied with something else at the same time but still say 'can't wait till I get it', but never get around to buying it. :c

I pretty much enjoyed Dead Space 1 but it was boring after I finished the game not much seems fun to me in the game. I'll hope if I get Dead Space 2 it wouldn't bored me

I hope it's scarier and I'm glad to hear that zero gravity is tweaked. In the first game it was probably the thing that I hated the most.

Just finished Dead Space: Martyr recently. (Which really created more questions than answers; still a good read though)
SO pumped for Dead Space 2 right now. I do like the look of Isaac's old RIG better though.

Really? I'm currently on my seventh time and none of it even feels old yet :3

Plasma Cutter, as I recently dicovered, is actually one of the best weapons to use in the game. It's accurate, hits instantly, and ammo is plenty. Put it together with a good handling of Stasis, and you 'll find that even Impossible Mode is a breeze with it.

Seeing you're really into deadspace I might ask you for an answer or theory on the ending in deadspace 1 and beginning deadspace two...in the ending of deadspace one you know what happens to Isaac in the space shuttle. After seeing that I'd thought "ok, ds2 will feature a new person?", but it didn't, it's still Isaac.I haven't read enough about ds2 yet, but what's certain is that Isaac didn't die, so what I'm asking is if you have any theories about what happened to him in the shuttle. Seemed to me like he was attacked and killed:S

He was most likely suffering a hallucination brought on by the marker.

And I just raped a small army of slashers with my upgraded pulse rifle and military RIG.

Love will find its way, over time and space, love will find its way.

@DeeTox: Like Jedi-L-FTW said, another hallucination from the Marker was likely it. It also slightly refers to the fact Issac now knows Nicole is dead. Also, less likely, it could have been a real Necromorph and Issac was simply able to defeat his attacker.

    *cough*
Necromorph attacks Issac and throws him to the ground.
Necro tries to hit Issac but he doges, *grabs the plasma cutter/Pulse Rifle/whatever and hits the necro in the head, put it in stasis and then kills it.
*Or uses the ....bah...can't remember the name. The thing you get in chapter 2.....to grab the plasma cutter and cuts it's arms then the head.

Dead Space 2 gets versus with ability to play as Necromorphs? Hell yes.

But more objectively though, from the looks of the video it appears to simply be "survival" for a certain amount of time. In my opinion, there's a high chance this sort of thing could get old easily. I was kinda wishing there was more co-op campain juice in it...but I guess Left 4 Dead already took that idea anyways. I still hope that they can execute it in a way that makes it awesome though.

But still, the thought of playing as the Necromorphs is awesome no matter how you look at it

    Ooooohhhh yeah!!

I should really check my mailbox for updates more often. This is already ten days old :'(

Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition packs plasma cutter

    And the best part?
EA has also confirmed that the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC editions of the limited-edition package will include a replica of protagonist Isaac's plasma cutter
So going to get my hands on this if I can manage it
