Default Grudge Match: Resident Evil vs. Dead Space

Hey there guys, I just recently stumbled across this video on Youtube and I though it could start a bit of disscussion:

So the issue here should be clear enough. Which game do you like better? Dead Space or Resident Evil Series (Mainly 5 by the looks of it)

Personally I liked Dead Space better. First off, even though neither games are scary, I could tell that Dead Space had a much better atmosphere. Even though it was a bit repetive, gameplay still managed to stay at the top of its class. Resident Evil, though fun overall, falls a bit short. First, Resident Evil has pretty bad controls compared to Dead Space, mainly being hampered by the fact that you can't move while aiming. And it doesn't have the "feel" of a survival horror game like Dead Space did (Though by the looks of how far it had gone, the designers intended it)

So that's that. Vote for what you like better, and watch the vid if you need a bit of info.

Oh and before it pops up I don't want to see any "Both these games suck. _____ is better than either of them." sort of posts. Sure I can respect you if that's your opinion no problem, but this thread is reserved for comparisons of the listed games, not a place to boast about other games.

It's been years since I played RE4 and I've never played RE5, and I'm currently playing Dead Space which makes this sort of unfair but what the hell...

Dead Space is a nice game, although the missions are not very logical and they feel like they just put stuff in to prolong the game. Because really, all you EVER do is running around repairing stuff, or destroying stuff.

And you have to agree that it's stupid to aim for the limbs, were there's no vital organs blood veins, instead of going for the head or the chest. Sure it's cool to throw Stasis on a sucker and shoot his legs and arms of while he's flying through the air, but that's about it.

RE4 became very frustrating very quickly, mostly because of the controls. And that's all I remember about it.

That, as many have agreed (Me included), is one Dead Space's greatest weaknesses. You run around fixing stuff for some mundyduny reason. But even so, gameplay more than makes up for it by a long shot.

But if you get a chance, go check the expanded universe. Seems like the plot is crawling everywhere except in the actual game itself.

The reason for that takes a bit from plot. You see Necromorphs are already dead people, who are mutated, so shooting them in organs (Including the brain) doesn't do much at all besides annoying them. Cutting them apart is the only way to stop them coming after you.

And if you got problems with that one weapon is your saviour: the Ripper. With it, you don't even need stasis.

I think Dead Space is better, because you don't know were the monsters are coming so sometimes you get some scares.

Resident evil 5, well for me, It is a desgrace. I loved playing it and I really enjoy playing resident evil games but, Resident evil used to be more fun and scary like how Resident evil 1 was (zombies, haunted houses, hunters). Thats just my opinion.

I'm a big fan of Capcom games, & Resident Evil (5) is no exeption.
More than 50% of RE5 is action while the rest is horror, that's a bit of a shame in some areas, but in some other areas it's really entertaining.
The Mercenaries mode in RE5 is a thing i can use countless hours on, co-operating with a friend or my brother, trying to kill as many zombies within serveral minutes.
There are a lot of unluckables and stories to read about all the zombie outbreaks through the Resident Evil games.

After buying the "Lost in Nightmares" pack i got even more excited about this game, it is so much scary than the original campaign. I think Resident Evil 5 is worth the money!

I tried the demo of Dead Space, and it looks like it's more about the horror and exploration than Resident Evil 5.
However I lost the interest of the game after like half an hour.
It's pretty much impossible completing the demo unless you know how to kill the monsters properly and know which gun is best i your current situation. I didn't know anything about the weapons in the demo of Dead Space because it's all fictionary futuristic guns.
Took some time to find out what they actually did, i don't really think i figured it out at all.
It was like "Oh, so what does this gun do?... Laser beams? Wait... Wasn't that the same as the other gun? Oh well, what about this one?... Oh more laser-beams..." and then "Ok, i think i'm ready to move into more hostile areas now! C'mon mosters, show me what you got!... Haha i fucked your arm up! And your legs!... You're not so threatening anymo- uh!? WTF!? Dead limbs are attacking me!?... *You are dead*... Uh..."
Don't get me wrong, i do NOT dislike Dead Space, infact it was quite entertaining and i can see why so many people enjoy playing this game. I'm just more into Resident Evil.
This world need more great horror survial games!

Another main reason I loved Dead Space is because you actually CAN cut of the Necromorphs' and they will STILL come after you. Unlike most other games where you can't even cut off limbs and even if you could they die instantly when you do.

I totally forgot to say that Resident Evil 5 was meant to have Chris as the main character only!
But people started whining like "Chris is white, he kill African zombies!? =O That's so racist!"
So Capcom added Sheva who's his afro-partner.

Personally, i think it could be great if Chris was alone in that game. Then if you felt like playing Co-Op you could play some Co-Op missions that didn't ruin the main story with a friend.

I just remembered that when i watched some of the old RE5 trailers, where you only see Chris as the main character.

Poor Capcom, they just wanted to make a good game and then black guys complain about it so they have to re-animate the cut-scenes and get back to work on even more character designs and a new storyline.
Also, something like 50% of the enemies are now Mexicans.

Don't get me wrong, i'm against rasicm. But sometimes people just overreact a little bit.
No-one complained about RE4? Did they?

I'm black and I just thought that was a stupid complaint about such a great game. Me and my friend laughed about it when we first heard.

Both games suck, Underscores The Game is better.

The noob above me is a noob, and therefor wrong.

Moving on, Dead Space, I mean really, look at the facts.

Dead Space: Giant isolated space ship, weird ass alien mutants, religious screw-ups, cuting things to pieces with mining equipment that can over-power any modern gun, and the main guys name is Isaac.

Resident Evil: To many regions in each game to count, little zombies and 'infested' that can be shot down by any normal guy apparently, repetitive sunglasses of stupidity, racist joke magnetism, and it suffers from "Letsseehowmanysequelswecansqueezein-itis".
A picture may say a thousand words, but a thousand words can paint one beautiful picture.
