Hey Folks,

I'd like to let you know of a change we are implementing as of now.
Forum Signatures have been disabled, indefinitely. After a brief discussion among the staff we decided it would be in the best interests to give this a try.

The reasoning is simple, people are putting too much crap in their signatures. It is fast becoming annoying trying to go through a thread and having to wade through mountains of eye-bleeding images just to get to the posts.

This may or may not become permanent depending upon the outcome. We are considering other options, such as only allowing text, (maybe, 2 lines or something short), and no Quotes.

If it became more permanent we are considering allowing larger avatars, and everyone having a custom user-title on the forums.

I realise many of you feel your signature is an important reflection of your personality and you should have one on the forums. But due to the degradation of quality of the forums, and the once again increasing level of signature violations, we have decided to carry this out.

It will be much like how the Reputation trial was carried out. We'll leave it in place for a while, see how things go and change things from there.

Feel free to discuss the removal and modification of signatures, your personal views on the matter.

The size they are is OK, but if the size were changed to allow larger, I wouldn't mind.

I can see your reasoning. I was once at a forum where someone had a signature containing three Banners. Together the banners took up half an A4 page. Talk about Bandwidth Rape.

I think the custom title thing is a good idea. The Avatars seem to be at a good size already though. And if people want to express themselves they'll just have to make themselves interesting enough so people will view their profiles.

If you do go through with the user title thing, I'd suggest you make it so that only one person can have any given title. You know, like usernames have to be unique, the titles should be too.

Well, I was starting to get tired of mine anyway. I think larger avi pics would be nice, and the custom user titles would be nice too. We'll just have to see how all of this works out.
However, I did think that having signatures made it easier to search for a specific person's posts in a thread, at least it made it easier for me...

I don't have anything against removing sigs. Just have to get used to it.
Please don't make avatars that much larger. Maybe just increase their maximum byte limit?

I don't really care, though I did like that sig Goly made meh. Ah well, if we get custom titles I have no complaints. Though some people might be ticked that their overlyworked on sigs are gone (ex. INTY).
