I'm not too happy with either of the

screenshots, they will either be redone, or taken out of the movie. The first

one is basically complete, accept I'm not done animating a crowd in the

background, the 2nd one is not finished either, still needs effects,

background sticks, and the character sitting at the closest

table.

EDIT : The 2 older scenes have been removed from the movie.

:)

Status: ON HOLD

I'll update it

with new information and screenshots. But don't expect too many screenshots,

sorry I don't want to release too much. And yes, I've posted these screens

on a different topic, but this is for upcoming movies so...too bad :P

Well, after alot

of thinking, and I've had some free time latey, I've decided to revamp the

backgrounds completely. Those 2 scenes you see above are going to be removed

and replaced with backgrounds such as this

This is niether of the scenes above, since they are being redone.

But this is an example of how the backgrounds will be.

Are you using textures? It

seriously looks great, minus all the gradients. They aren't really going to

help except make it look a little prettier.

I used a picture

of wood, and bitmapped it for the floor.

Minus the gradients? They are

the key to making it look 3d/realistic. They add some depth and lighting to

the objects.

Blackwater

Nah, I hate gradients. They dont really make it look real, they just make it

look appealing while adding a lot of lag.

Hey. That looks really sexy, keep up the awesome work.

Silentkillah

Hehe, thanks :) I'm gonna

finish this quick lobby scene tomorrow hopefully.

VipER X
March 27th, 2006, 07:32 PM
nah, gradients make

it look nice, just lower the brightness between the 2 colours to make it more

subtle.

`seCks
March 27th, 2006, 10:12 PM
yup

looks bloody amazing - the "line drawing" i can achive jus getting da

gradients all right and workin toegther is beyond me - so i have 2 keep it

simple or jus use gray gradients... :x im gonna try add colour gradients !

Kee

p in mind, this is just an experiment, yes I know the eyes are similar to

Oscars'. The only reason is I wanted to use the "eyebrow" style, but I'm

trying to altar it as much as I can by doing things such as change the shape

of the eyes for each character, gradient the eyebrows, no outline on the

eyebrows, and as I type this I'm trying to think of other ways.

Blackwater
March 28th, 2006, 04:24 AM
That looks great. The gradients are sort of iffy

for me still.

Oscar
March 28th, 2006, 10:26 AM
Very, very nice... Only thing I could pick at

would be the lightning which appears to be pretty bright or something - Still

awesome though.

Thanks. Hmm, I'll try darkening the scene a bit.

Blackwater

I think the

lighting looks pretty good for the setting. If its an upstanding hotel or

whatever it is (It looks like a hotel or a corporation or something) they

wouldn't cheap out on the lighting, when if it was a dirty, rundown place,

the lighting wouldn't be as bright.

Silentkillah
March 30th, 2006, 05:06 AM
True. It is a high-class hotel, based in the future but I

didn't want to exagerate the futustic aspect too much.

wow great screens but at a first glance i thought that

lobby was 3d! lol good job

VipER X
March 30th, 2006, 04:31 PM
with these kind of backgrounds, sticks don't really

suit them, this quality of background would look great with a J&R cartoon

style, as that style uses alot of gradients. i really just don't think

sticks look good on this..

Blackwater
March 30th, 2006, 07:23 PM
J&R cartoon style

I've never

heard of that.

VipER X
March 30th, 2006, 08:01 PM
well the style that john & richie use, go to www.johnrichie.com

to see it.

Silentkillah
March 31st, 2006, 02:03 AM
Actually, I

kinda disagree. Personally, I think the sticks look fine with the background.

The style you showed on that site looks kind of cartoony.

VipER X
March 31st, 2006, 04:24 PM
i know, but you use alot of gradients, and i think

that kind of style would fit. this is just in my opinion of course.

Looks amazing. I've never seen

your movies on Newgrounds. Any links to your previous works,

maybe?

You have potential. But I won't say more until I see the

quality of the animation itself, because I hate movies that look great but

are really choppy and lacks effort in animation itself.

Edit: I have

more to say, hehe.

By having such a detailed background, it limits

you to a static image, in the sense that you cannot move, rotate or skew the

background in a tween as it will most likely cause serious lag and will be

incredibly choppy.

I like the shadows, by the way. But remember once

you add a shadow to a stick, ALL sticks must have shadows throughout the rest

of the movie and must be proportionate to the detail you put in them as well.

Think thoroughly!
